A Man’s Best Friend

By | April 28, 2016

Apparently, Frederick the 2nd, King of Prussia, is the reason that A man's best friendpeople use this phrase nowadays. He referred to one of his Italian greyhounds as his best friend. Now admittedly, I know that dogs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and in some parts of the world, they are anything but pets (lets not go there!). Although, dogs can be a great motivation so I’d like to share a few things with you that might show why they are considered a man’s best friend.

They won’t remember your bad mood

Having human friends is great, but they will definitely remember how you pi**ed them off a few days ago! They might even hold onto it for years to come. On the other hand, dogs have the gift of having a poor memory. They won’t remember that you left them in the morning and were upset. When you get home, they will be the happiest pet ever! You can tease them and 5 minutes later they will be your best friend! This is probably one of the few true win-win scenarios in life.

They are much more than just companionship

Many studies have been done on our canine friends, which prove that dogs are much more than just a companion. For people that are depressed, they are a great source of happiness and joy. For workaholics, they are great with relieving stress – playing with them, petting them or even just watching them. Dogs also provide people with a sense of safety, whether they have a poodle or rottweiler.

They can also be a great motivation for exercise – dogs want to be active and so should we.

Surprisingly, dog owners also tend to be healthier and get sick less often. Dogs expose people to many germs and as a result, the human immune system is strengthened.

Entertainment is free

Different breeds have different levels of intelligence and different breeds have different energy levels. But generally, dogs are surprisingly smart and usually have more energy than most of us! They don’t have bills to pay, chores to do, dealing with annoying people – all they care about is sleeping, eating, saying hello, getting a pat, eating again, sleeping some more and that’s it! In between, they have lots of time to entertain – running around, jumping, digging, barking, you name it. Sometimes, you can even just look at a dog and laugh because the expression on they their face says it all.

Our dog, Conan, has started a morning routine of playing when I brush my teeth – take a look!

As much as he is very naughty and upsets me, Conan brings a lot of joy to our home.

There is a lot of research you can do about the best dog for you but at the end of it all, they can be a great motivational tool in so many areas of life.
Dogs are cool!
